We are delighted to announce that our project has been awarded a grant from the London Assembly Green Roots Fund.
This award is part of the first round of funding recently announced by the Mayor of London, supporting a range of environmental and biodiversity projects across the capital. Among them are initiatives to restore and protect woodlands, wetlands, and other vital habitats, and we’re proud that our beloved wood and its native bluebells made the list.
Alongside funding we were awarded by Merton Council from its Investing In Neighbourhoods fund, and over £5,000 raised by generous local residents, this means we have now reached our funding target of £170,000.
We can now begin important work to restore the woodland floor and wet-woodland environment, improve access for visitors, and help our beautiful, rare bluebells flourish again, ensuring that this special site becomes healthier, more resilient, and more welcoming for nature and our community alike.
We look forward to sharing updates soon on our progress. Thank you to everyone who helped to make this possible – without your support it is unlikely that the Mayor’s Fund may not have appreciated the importance of our project. We’re so grateful for all your support in fundraising, volunteering, and spreading the word about our project.
